ELMS – The Ligier JS P217 victorious at the Red Bull Ring

Yesterday, United Autosports scored a superb victory at the Red Bull Ring with the no. 32 Ligier JS P217 in the third round of the European Le Mans Series. The Anglo-American team gave the Onroak Automotive LM P2 chassis its second win after its success in the Silverstone 4 Hours at the start of the season.
After 4-hours flawless racing at the wheel of the no. 32 United Autosports Ligier JS P217 Hugo de Sadeleer, Will Owen and Felipe Albuquerque won the Red Bull Ring 4 Hours beating the no.22 G-Drive Racing Oreca 07 by 4.554sec and the no. 39 entered by Graff by a lap. Thanks to its second win in three races, the Anglo-American team has now closed the gap to G-Drive Racing, the ELMS overall leader, to only four points!
The no. 23 Ligier JS P217 entered by Panis-Barthez Compétition finished in the top 5 in the Red Bull Ring 4 Hours.
Although the no. 2 United Autosports Ligier JS P3 took the chequered flag in first place in the LM P3 category despite being hit by a drive-through penalty in the dying minutes of the race, victory went to the no. 11 Ligier JS P3 run by Eurointernational. After the race the Anglo-American team was given a 25-second penalty for not reducing its speed in the time allocated during a Full Course Yellow. This pushed Falb-Rayhall back to second place handing victory to Mondini-Ulboldi who clinched their first win in the ELMS. Into third came Cougnaud-Jung-Ricci in the no. 18 M. Racing – YMR Ligier JS P3.
After the third round United Autosports and Ultimate share the lead in the LM P3 category with 45 points each, two ahead of the no. 18 M. Racing – YMR Ligier JS P3.
In parallel to this fresh triple in LM P3 in the ELMS, Ligier JS P3s were also racing in the Michelin Le Mans Cup, the Asian Le Mans Sprint Cup and the IMSA Prototype Challenge this weekend.
Two Ligier JS P3 driver line-ups were on the podium of the third round of the Michelin Le Mans Cup at the Red Bull Ring after a thrilling 2-hour event. Noble and Wells, who are putting on scintillating performances in Great Britain in the no. 79 Ligier JS P3 entered by Nielsen Racing, set the fastest lap in the race crossing the finishing line in second place behind the DKR Engineering Norma M30. Into third came Carde-Chila in the no. 65 Graff Ligier JS P3.
The second round of the Asian Le Mans Sprint Cup took place on the Sepang circuit. William Lok and Davide Rizzo won the second race of the weekend in the no. 1 Win Motorsport Ligier JS P3 thus consolidating their lead in the overall classification.
On the Lime Rock Park circuit Kenton Koch scored his third second-place finish this season at the wheel of the no. 8 P1 Motorsports Ligier JS P3 to add to his three victories since the start of the championship.
