Official testing for the 2017 European Le Mans Series took place on Tuesday and Wednesday at Monza. Five sessions, including one at night-time, were on the programme.
Six Ligier JS P217s were on track. Combining the times set over the two days the fastest lap went to the no. 28 Ligier JS P217-Gibson-Michelin entered by IDEC Sport Racing. Olivier Pla's lap time of 1m36.461sec on the 5,793 km Monza layout corresponds to an average speed of 216,2 km/h!
In the LM P3 category, 19 Ligier JS P3s took part in these tests.
A Ligier JS P3 was quickest in every one of the five sessions. United Autosports, the reigning ELMS champion, set the fastest overall time in 1m45.219sec with its no. 2 Ligier JS P3 driven by John Falb and Sean Rayhall. The AT Racing team, which is making its debut in the category this season, topped the time sheets on two occasions with its no. 9 Ligier JS P3. M Racing YMR and Panis Barthez Compétition clinched the quickest LM P3 times in sessions 2 and 5.
The entrants in the European Le Mans Series will meet up in England on 13-15 April for the Silverstone 4 Hours, the first round of the 2017 season.
