IMSA Prototype Challenge presented by Mazda – Round 1 – Sebring
A year after the success of the Ligier JS P2 in the Sebring 12 Hours, the Ligier JS P3s won the opening round of the new IMSA Prototype Challenge Series on the Florida circuit open to the LM P3 and MPC categories.
There were 10 Ligier JS P3s among the 25 cars on the grid for the first round, 13 of which were entered for the LM P3 category. Sharing the track with a Norma M30, a Ginetta LM P3 and a Riley AVE LM P3, the Ligier JS P3s set the two quickest times in the qualifying session. In the first race, the Ligier JS P3s scored a triple and then finished first and third in the second heat setting the fastest laps in both.
The ANSA Motorsports team and Nicolas Jamin were in scintillating form this weekend winning both times out. Performance Tech Motorsports and Andres Gutierrez ensured second and third places in both heats, while P1 Motorsports and Lonnie Pechnik completed the podium in the first race.
