FRD LM P3 SERIES
Round 1 – Zhejiang International Circuit
The Zhejiang circuit hosted the inaugural round of the brand new FRD LM P3 Series last weekend. Eleven Ligier JS P3 took part in this first round of the Chinese series, and more are awaited at the following rounds. On the 3.2km track, with no fewer than 16 corners, two one-hour free practice sessions, two ten-minute qualifying sessions and two one-hour races were on the programme for the Ligier JS P3 cars entered by seven teams.
The first victory in the Chinese series was won on Saturday by Eurasia Motorsport with the #3 Ligier JS P3 of Martin Cao and Garnet Patterson. They were joined on the podium by Andrew Walte and Yann Clairay at the wheel of the #17 PTRS Ligier JS P3, and Neric Wei and Josh Burdon in the #18 KCMG Ligier JS P3. The race had to be red flagged due to heavy rain 10 minutes before the official end.
The following day, the #95 Craft Bamboo Ligier JS P3, in a “Lightning McQueen” livery, raced to victory. In the hands of Jamie Winslow and Mathias Beche, the Ligier JS P3 in the colours of the famous red car from the Disney-Pixar movie “Cars” crossed the finish line ahead of the #18 KCMG and the #3 Eurasia Motorsport Ligier JS P3 cars, both of which had been on the first podium of the weekend as well.
The next round of the FRD LM P3 series will be held from the 28th to the 30th of July on the Shanghai circuit.
